Part Time LLB Finance Advise

Hi,

Just looking into University. I am now 19 so have had a few gap years now where I have travelled and worked abroad. However it is now back to reality and time to focus on a career. I have been looking into various things, including law. I have been looking at a part time Law Degree (LLB) at Staffordshire University.

The reason I would like to do it part time is that it is in the evening so this allows me to continue with my full time job (£15k a year). I have been independent since I was 16 (officially 3 years in August) this includes lodging which unfortunatley came to an end as my friend needed the space! So I will be renting another friends property as she has moved away but doesn't want or need to sell her house. But anyway that is another story and a different thread! So the reason for my post (eventually!) . . .

I have been looking at .gov site and various threads here and I'm a little unsure about which grants I would be eligable for, when I need to apply, how and where!

So the main facts;
  • Part Time LLB degree taking 4 years to complete 90 credits per year (FT takes 3 years)
  • Currently earning 15k a year
  • Financially independent since August 2007
I think I should be entitled to the maximum course grant and fee grant. However I could be very wrong!! Please can someone advise me on the likely amount, how, where and when or anything that you think could be of some help. It will be much appreciated!

Many Thanks

Katie :D

    From the information you've given, you should be eligible for the fee grant of £1210 and the course grant of £260. This is based on your income and isn't affected by the fact of living independently for some time (unlike full time fees).
