Best position of extractor fan?

I really do need to get an extractor fan fitted in the bathroom, why on earth I didn't think of this when I had the bathroom completely brought upto date I don't know:rolleyes: My question is WHERE would the best place to have this fitted?
The shower is on an outside wall..........and the shower unit is on the garage wall. (hope this makes sense!) opposite there are 2 large windows,
vanity & wall unit unit next to the shower. Please can somebody help? also what kind of extractor fan is best without costing a fortune.
Thank you in advance:o

Easiest and cheapest usually ceiling mounted and vented via ducting, do you have loft access?

Whilst the cheapy in line shower fan will work it's really only designed to extract the cubicle only. The High pressure in line kits below are far far more effiecent for the extra £40 or so, and will almost guarantee you get no mildew etc.

Also if you fit the inline fan to a party wall as opposed to the ceiling joists, it runs almost completely silent.

Whichever one you buy, get one with a timer over run, the 20 minutes after the shower is when all the damage is done.

Whatever type of fan you put in, it will be a lot more efficient if you supply it with somewhere to draw air from. A small grille over the door or in the opposite wall to the fan, otherwise it will just be trying to suck air in around the door.
  • Nice link Alan M,

Hubby and I are about to refurnish shower room and were not looking forward to the idea of having a great hole punched through the outside wall for an extractor.

You've saved me time, work, money, and possibly the odd marital argument.

    Well done to you.
