Tesco Clothing

Just a warning if you buy any items from Tesco new clothing website. If you return anything its free but they charge you £2. I know its only a little amount and to be fair it does say it on the invoice but it seems strange when no other companies I have brought from charge you to return stuff. Postage is free to return so I guess your not really losing out. They do have good service but just a warning about that charge.

It doesn't say. It just says on the invoice they will charge you £2 for returns. I think its for all the returns. I think it may be postage as they don't charge you for returning to stores but my nearest big Tesco is miles away hence why I ordered on-line in the first place!

  • Thanks for the heads up!
  • I returned a faulty item bought from Tesco Clothing online expecting to get back the entire £31.95 I paid but was suprised to find I only got £29.95. Having checked the terms and conditions I found this on their website:
"No matter how many items you return, you would only ever pay a £2 contribution that will be debited from your refund upon receipt of your items. This does not affect your statutory rights."

But is this legal? If the goods are faulty shouldn't they refund all my money?

    Grateful for any help, thanks.

If you return your whole order within seven working days because you change your mind or if you return your order because products were faulty we will give you a full refund including the delivery charge.

they wont apply charge if goods are faulty

Yeah it's a postage charge. I think it was Asos that does this aswell - £1 per item but they don't charge you if it's faulty.

Thanks for your help. Despite the returned goods being faulty, Tesco did take the " £2 contribition cost " and my refund was less this amount.

Yesterday I sent an email asking Tesco for this money back. I have now received this reply:

"We can now confirm a refund of £2.00 has been credited to your account. This may include a £2 contribition cost to the return of your item(s). Please allow at least 5 working days for your refund to appear."

No idea if this was a genuine oversight or were perhaps just trying it on. This reply doesn't tell me as it's the standard automated refund message and somewhat bizarre as it is for the "contribution cost" yet warns me the "contribution cost" may have been taken. Perhaps I still won't get any money?

My advice to anyone returning faulting clothing to Tesco: check how much they refund, and if it's £2 short like mine was, challenge it.
