its not illegal. If it was the fraud squad would be in there like a flash.

I dont believe there have been any references on the web to a successful court case where the loan has been wiped out due to PPI being included. Also, be wary of companies that claim 100% success rate. Warnings were issued by the MoJ earlier in the year to avoid companies making such claims as no-one has that level of success. Indeed, only a minority of claims succeed.

There are potential issues here which could lead to some potential benefit for you to avoid paying your debts but its not easy and there are no guarantees.

thanks the ppi was not with the loan it was with my mortgage the woman said she would be able to claim it all back because the government had made it illegal to sell the ppi with the mortgage and it was impossible to make a successful claim and regarding the loan she said because they had not taken me in for an interview to review my finances that they should not have just handed over another 17000 because my circumstances could have changed i have paid the 399 now wondering if i have done the right thing

Thanks for the clarification. That has actually given us enough to go on. The claims company is acting fraudulently and you should report them.

The Government has issued no such requirement.
and regarding the loan she said because they had not taken me in for an interview to review my finances that they should not have just handed over another 17000 because my circumstances could have changed

Also total BS. How do you think people apply for loans over the internet, over the phone or via brokers.

The lenders should perhaps have been more careful with the lending criteria but you would have been credit scored and that would tell them enough (not nowadays but back then).
i have paid the 399 now wondering if i have done the right thing

No. You have been lied to and this claims company have told you a complete load of rubbish.

There is not a single case of MPPI (paid monthly) having resulted in a debt being written off. There would be no reason for there to be it either.

  • Are you sure that this is the correct name of the company?? as they are not regulated by MOJ, so at the moment the only one doing anything illegal is them!!

You should also have a cooling off period of 14 days with this company to cancel your application, and get most if not all of your money back.

  • Hi all,

I've just had a call from Bridgewater too - bridgewaterclaims . co . uk

They are claiming they can write off my credit cards (taken prior to April 2007) as they were mis-sold.

1 - credit card was "distance sold", signing of the credit agreement was not witnessed by anyone
2 - my interest rate has been increased without me being invited to a consultation to review my financial circumstances, and i have not signed a new agreement

They are requesting a £399 admin fee - upfront.

Im not convinced they are legitamite and not even sure if this is possible under scottish law.

Can someone please confirm if this company is legitamite and whether this is possible??

    Thanks

Perhaps better off asking on the loans or credit cards threads. This is for PPI and other insurance but if you are asking about this company then I would say steer clear of any company that makes claims like they do and keep your money to yourself.

Thats where they make their money. Sign up 2 people a day, 300 days a year and you make £239,400.

They are telling outright lies. You should report them to the MoJ as the are basically scamming people on that basis.

Didnt realise this company was linked to those ones. Well that does explain the misinformation and lies being spouted.

Also not on the data protection register AND their homepage has no details of MOJ or anything TBH. I think its best for someone that has been contacted to send a link to their homepage perhaps to MOJ and hope they will do something.
