It will depend on your underwriter - some of the underwriters will prohibit ANY changes to the policy during the 12 month contract.

Tesco charged my daughter about £30 last year because when her renewal was due she wanted to up her mileage and they said she would have to pay extra for the remaining 2 weeks on her current year's insurance as she had now informed them she was doing more miles!

Her new insurance starts 18th June, but she is about to move into a new house. Will she be charged for changing her address? If so, it's a right rip off.

It depends where the vehilce is parked, and how many claims there have been in the area, and if the mileage changes.

To be honest, premium can't be waived, but if you threaten to speak to a manager or to cancel, that should see the fee waived....;)

We just get a screen that says "vehicle not allowed" and that's as much of an explanation as we get.

It may well but good customer service (I won't even go into TCF) would be to find the reason from the U/W. I'm sure you wouldn't use the now famous 'computer says no' response - you seem too good for that.;)

Thanks for replying - we realise the premium could be different being a different post code, I was just wondering if there is a fee to pay for changing details of the address.

Many insurers do charge a mid term alteration fee but cannot say for certain if Tesco's do or dont

You see THAT Archie would be assuming that anyone takes any notice of the customer service advisors!!!

I have pointed this out before that knowing why would help us, and the customers. The response we get back is pretty much "computer says no" and aparently the computer is our god or something.....

I have tried calling the underwriters, but they never have any clue what I'm on about.

Frankly I'm not suprised customers get annoyed.

Some of us try, honestly!!!! And trying is NOT rewarded!;)

Fair comment. Have you approached it from a regulatory point of view? Treating Customers Fairly is part of regulation and if you have a compliance bod they should see this is therefore in breach of FSA regulations.

Just a thought but I know what a pain in the !!!!!! it can be being a cog in a big company. Now I work for a company of 60 and you can be heard!

You know Archie, I think that you should speak to a team leader, I will try what you have said..however, I put in a user request for a very BASIC but important thing.

That was in March 2005.... They have still done nothing.

If a customer requests things, they usually get done a lot quicker.
