First Assist: Unjustified payout refusals

Does anyone have any experience with rejected claims for income protection / redundancy from First Assist (British Insurance).

My full time role was made redundant in September and they are refusing to progress my claim due to a technicality involving a Ltd company directorship which was inactive throughout my employment.

Have heard similar stories of policy payouts not being covered on unreasonable grounds and would be grateful for feedback from anyone with experience of First Assist in relation to Income Protection claims over the past year.

A directorship isnt inactive unless the company has ceased to trade.

Whether the company was registered as dormant, inactive or officially ceased trading is a moot point. The fact remains that my claim correctly stated that I was not self employed and had been made redundant from a full time role, as per the notification of redundancy letter provided.

First Assist could have gained proof of this from Inland Revenue but instead decided to use a technicality to avoid payment of a valid claim.
