Settled Default

Hi there,

About 5 years ago I defaulted on a mobile hone contract. To cut a long story short I had set up an online only contract (in store) with a card I was unaware could not manage DD. The person also put the wrong details in for my name. I never knew I had defaulted until I had a letter from a collection agency. I paid it off that very month

The default is still showing on my credit file as settled within a month. Is there any possibility of getting this removed. I am getting pre-approved for CC's etc (even though I am not taking them out) so my credit score can't be too bad bt I know it would be a lot better if this defaault was removed.

Any advise would be grateful.
