This 4508 on the card makes it nothing more than a Visa Electron, i have one, and i went to PC world to get a "dongle"...(mobile broadband stick) pay monthly type...anyhow gave them the co op cashminder Visa card..(yeah right!!) and low and behold their machine declined it because it registered as a visa Electron which they wouldn't accept for that type of purchase... this is going back 3 or 4 months now..so i don't know if these cards are widely recognised as Visa cards now or what but also Morrisons recognise it as a Visa Electron aswell because it said so on the reciept they handed back to me.

All I can say is when I have been using my card online (had it for 3 months now) I was putting my card in as a visa electron because that is what I thought it was being a nosey so and so on here..

Anyway my card was keep being blocked, called Coop three times to unblock the card. The third time I waited an hour like Coop said and tried again.. blocked. Thought to try it as just visa and transaction went through. Not had any problems since with online retailers. Just my experience

Thats just typical isn't it and a bit funny to be honest:D

You treat it as Visa Electron and it wont go through! you treat it as a Visa and it does, yet i have been caught out with it treating it as a proper Visa:confused::D..sods law i guess!

The Coop Cashminder visa debit is just a muddy puddy of confusion as far as I can see.. whose fault is it that no one knows what the heck it is or how and where it should be used. Still I can't complain, I'm an undischarged bankrupt with a bank account. It could have been so much worse!

This is something that I have read about frequently - if you have an Electron, put it through as a Visa debit on line and it usually gets accepted. If you put it through as an Electron, it usually gets rejected.
