Loan needed ASAP but have terrible credit score - what are my options?

I went to a dental hospital this morning and had a minor op done for free but am now expected to follow up, via a normal (NHS) dentist with root canal treatment, 3 crowns and bridgework and a possible prosthesis. I need about £1,000 even on the NHS. I do not qualify under the HC2 certificate scheme and have just signed off jobseekers' allowance. I currently work 18 hours a week, but it's not enough to be able to afford anything. I'm due to start a new full time job in the next few weeks but it isn't an option to ask them for an advance. I have nothing left to sell (was thinking Cash Converters!) and the fact I've moved house a lot recently isn't great (the reason being short term tenancies, nothing dodgy and I'm not currently a student). Anyway, any legal way of getting a loan ASAP? I'm in agony and have been told the damage and pain will get worse without treatment as I've already left it 3 years (I know I'm an idiot). I can afford to repay £200 a month easily, possibly more and although I should care about interest, I am not too bothered in this situation. I want this all over and done with in time for me to enjoy Chistmas. Thanks in advance for any practical, non judgemental helpful answers.

1. Dental finance some dentists offer loans
2. Loan from a family member - get a written agreement
3. Credit card
4. Bank overdraft
A £1000 loan from anywhere else will be really expensive because as the cost to do paperwork etc will be a significant amount of money.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

You could try approaching your local credit union, although you usually have to save with them first.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Your bank could help you with a loan, CC or O/D, subject to status0

Can only suggest that you cut all spend to the minimim, find a dentist who can spread the work out a bit between pay days or who can provide finance. Your only other option would seem to be payday loans or doorstep lending otherwise.
A credit union won't be able to help as you haven't saved with them for long enough.
I did a quick search to see if there are any dental charities but couldn't find anyone.
Good luck

If you're being charged £1000 for 'NHS' - IT ISN'T NHS.
Even if you're in Scotland or N.I. where the rules are different to England and Wales, there is a maximum charge for one course of treatment that is less than £400.
If you're in England, then the Max charge for one course is £198.
It might well be that the treatment has to be split into a few sections to complete - but even so, it shouldn't come anywhere near £1000.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
I can't get my overdraft extended and can't ask family; only have one relative I am in touch with and can't really ask them.
I was told the prosthesis (false teeth) would £5-600 and that root canal is about £480. I also got told to have descaling done which is £120ish but these were just their estimates. I've not yet found an NHS dentist who's taking people on.
I am not sure if I can get finance from the dentist due to a poor credit rating...0 -
Those are reasonable private prices - but they're not NHSHow to find a dentist.

To be honest, I'd pay that right now to be out of the pain I'm in. Just need to find a way to get my hands on the money ASAP. Maybe the dentist I spoke to earlier got confused between NHS and private prices; I did ask about NHS but had explained I was only at the dental hospital as the 3 NHS dentist near me are all full and cannot take me on and I'd been blacking out and struggling to eat the last few days due to teh pain. Anyway...still need a way to get the money; don't let Martin Lewis hear me say this but even a rip off would be ok right now as I know it needs sorting. Now the anaesthetic from this morning's mini op has worn off and I'm in mortal pain, I'd do anything to get rid of it. Shame I already sold my TV and DVD player ages ago...Just wish I could get a normal loan like normal people but my credit score is dire (being sorted though). I already spend very little; walk instead of bus, Lidl instead of Sainsburys, etc...0

Ask the dentist if it would be possible to set up a payment plan i.e. you pay £200 each month for five months, they get paid** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

Then you are going to do what many people including myself do and travel to another area where there is an NHS dentist taking patients on.Flickering_Ember wrote: »I was told the prosthesis (false teeth) would £5-600 and that root canal is about £480.
