which plant to buy in memory?
Sadly,we lost our much loved 13 year old cat this week to a long illness.
We were thinking of buying a plant for the garden in her memory, but really don't know what to get.
Jasper was a ginger cat who loved the garden,so we thought a plant would be a good idea.We have a very small garden though,so maybe a potted plant would be best.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I'm not sure that this would be right as your after a potted plant, but when our cat died last year we planted a royal purple in the garden in her memory, it's gorgeous and stands out from everything else, probably not best for a pot but still maybe something with purple or red leaves would be good. I have a beautiful acer that's doing very well in a pot, it goes a beautiful red colour in the autumn.
Hope you find the right thing,1 debt vs 100 days part 6-11total paid £8,135.86 Final Debt [STRIKE]6,948.61[/STRIKE] £3,174.940 -
Thankyou for your reply. We were thinking of something that would flower ginger/orange which was the colour of her fur,or maybe colour changing leaves as you suggested. Its really hard trying to find the right plant, just wanted to do something to remind us of her.0

How about a Tiger Lily. They often come in orange and grow well in pots and even have a cat ish sounding name.
some thing like this maybe??

Thankyou for the replies.
I have lots of lillies in the garden already, one of my favourite plants, but thankyou for the suggestion.
A Rose? Thats one plant i havn't got in the garden.I've never really been keen on them because i had children and was always worried about the thorns, but my youngest is 11 now so it may be worth a look.
I've been looking at acers, thankyou Dex,and found one that maybe suitable. Its called acer orange dream.I think it maybe ok to put in a pot too. Will keep looking, but anymore suggestions are welcome, thankyou x0 -
I would have suggested a dwarf Acer in a pot, one that has leaves that turn orange at this time of year.
Also, I know this isn't orange, but the plant Rosemary is for rememberance, you can get dwarf forms of that.0 -
As so often, Shakespeare was spot on for this situation,
"Rosemary for remembrance".0 -
Not colour changing but Nepeta. Er...aint lily pollen bad for cats.??

There is an Azalea (Azalea Mollis) deciduous not evergreen available with orange flowers during spring it has a good scent & the leaf colour in Autumn is amazing, they don't get to big either, acid soil is preferable as with other members of the Rhodendrum family.Theres only two rules to remember1) Im always right2) See rule 10
