Who is my Line Rental with????

I originally had a BT line from April 08 but transferred to SKY when they began line rental so I had one bill for all of my communications and media. All was great until I received a letter from Sky at the beginning of September to say that another provider had notified them they were taking the line rental , I was on holiday when the letter arrived so by the time I returned home and rang SKY they told me it was too late to cancel and could not see who the request was from . I contacted BT and they say I am not with them and suggested I wait until a bill arrives to find out which provider has "stolen" my line.

Can any one shed any light or advise the best point of contact with regard to this matter or if any one else has encountered a similar problem .

Thank you in advance

Wait for a bill... nooo dial 150 from your line it usually takes you to the line provider.

    What about trying 100?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

  • NB: this is for info only should anyone encounter the same problem and do a forum search.

Have spoken to Ofcom Advisory Team (020 7981 3040) and they were very helpful. Suggested I contact my previous supplier (SKY) and switch back asap as it take 10/14 days. Ofcom have the facility to find out who line rental is with, it takes 48 hours and have given me a reference for when I call back. He also gave me details of the procedure and timescale for complaints.

Hope this may help anyone in a similar position.
