It is a case of hopefully having a bit of money coming in shortley , and wanting to do the right thing and clear as many card debts as possible. If l am able to get reductions on some of the balances l may be able to clear them all.

You owe the balance, you pay the balance. That's the way things work!

If you have financial difficulty, and negotiate a lower figure to avoid bankruptcy, it's a different matter.

i would try and get as much as possible off the debt, i have ignored letters that they use to send me and they offered up to 60% r so off the debt, even offer them a token payment of say £1 a month and say you can't afford what they r looking, might aswell enjoy your own money instead of paying it all to them, remember the longer you leave it the more they will take off the debt eventually.

I find it amusing that parasites like you tend to call card issuers parasites.

Not true - all a load of rubbish.

As detailed above, and I do know what i'm on about before you ask, the banks will not accept any reduced settlement when the account is not in arrears - why would they? Why should they? I mean, I owe £10 and I think sod it, i'll only pay £7k.... how long do you think the business that is a bank, will last?

What you suggest would ruin the OP's credit file by letting it go into arrears!

    Muppet!

No creditor will accept a reduced settlement figure on an account unless it has defaulted. Until then, there is no leeway, no negotiation, nothing. Ever.

If you want to clear your debts without paying the full balance because you are suffering financial hardship, then there are solutions to this, like debt management plans, IVAs, and Bankruptcy.

If you are not in financial hardship and just want to pay the debt off, you'll have to pay the full balance - plus a months interest after that ;)

Are you saying it is better to miss a payment or two and then contact the card companies.
