Anyone used Money4GoldUK?

Hi!

I was wondering if anyone had used Money4GoldUk? How long did it take before you received your cheque? The letter I received with the envelope said that they would value what was sent and a cheque would be forwarded within 24 hours. I sent my jewellry on 20th October and it was received on 21st. After calling I was told it was valued last Thursday (29th) and a cheque was on it's way to me. I've still received nothing so called today only to be told that a cheque hadn't been issued yet and to give it another few days. I know it's not a lot of money but I'm still annoyed. I asked for a supervisor to call me back as I don't think it's fair to expect me to wait another few days to find out what is happening.

Anyone had better luck?

My wife has been dealing with this company.
Having gone down our local High Street and had jewellery valued she decided to contact this company and subsequently sent the items to them.
Their valuation was a lot less than the High Street shop and so she sent the cheque back.
We waited on the gold to be returned but only received phone calls, each one putting the valuation up. The offer was originally £89 and we agreed on a figure of £121 which was acceptable to us.
It has been a long drawn out affair and I believe that they had already processed the gold and were unable to return the items.
Coincidentally my wife works on a Post Office counter and has had many customers returning cheques.
  • Thank you very much for your reply, I really appreciate it. Needless to say the supervisor hasn't called me back yet to let me know what is happening. Your post has given me something to think about.

  • Thanks for that Biscit! I'd only sent the jewellry to them as Quidco were giving money back...lol, so much for my MSE plans! Not having a good week - I sent my old phone to Love2Recycle almost two weeks ago and everytime I phone they say my cheque will be sent 'in a few days'...my OH sent his to Mazuma and had a cheque within 4 days, even though Royal Mail were on strike two of the days! I think I'm just unlucky!

  • Just to add another experience. My wife sent a chain to Money4Gold having had an offer of £26 for it from a High St Market trader. She sent it to Money4Gold on 5th October, received by them on 6th. Their letter dated 12th Oct enclosing a cheque for £6.18 was received on 15th. The cheque was returned on 15th with a letter complaining about the price and trying to take them up on their 'Double G Guarantee' (Find a higher price and we'll double it). No reply, so sent a further letter on 27th October asking for return of item within 7 days - still nothing. Finally got through to them on the phone today, they offered £18.55 over the phone which was rejected (amazing how they can treble their offer just like that). They say theye are going to send the item back but say that it may take up to 15 days. Re the 'Guarantee' they say it only applies to comparisons with other TV gold advertisers. Multiply our tiny amount by the hundreds and thousands of items they must have received and you can imagine the money these people are ripping people off for. I would say these companies should be checked out by regulators but I would steer well clear.
  • They've all popped up out of nowhere and they just look dodgy to me. Hope everyone gets their money/jewellery back

  • My friends Dad owns a Jewellery shop and has been in the business over 30 years

I was having a chat with him the other day about these companies and he told me he's had loads of people coming into his shop complaining about these companies who they have sent jewellery too. The customers end up not happy with the price quoted and when they request their jewellery back they’ve been told that the gold has already been melted down!

Gold is high value at the moment and you can go to your nearest independent jewellers and shop around for the best valuations. (Just like you would do with car insurance quotes)

If you are still intent on giving these companies a try, weigh your gold and take numerous pictures of it before sending it but too be honest I’d stay clear. It does mean more footwork going to 4-5 different jewellers but its all about getting the money for your items and at least you know if you dont like the prices quoted you still can walk away with your jewellery

    Good luck

If I had any gold I wouldn't be 'posting' it anywhere.
