Am I right in thinking that if you recieve a bill from a company after a certain length of time you are not liable to pay it?
I cancelled my account with my isp AOL about 4 years ago maybe longer, I have since received a bill for £54 from a debt company, I'm very cross about this as I remember clearly contacting AOL saying i wished to cancel my account with them as I was changing to vigin media, they tried to persuade me to stay but I explained that the offers Virgin had at the time were far better than they were offering!

Just write to the debt company telling them that you do not have any outstanding debt with AOL, your account was cancelled on <date>, and all outstanding money was paid, therefore you do not acknowledge this debt in question. Perhaps even include some sort of proof you've paid in full, cancelled the account etc...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I'd suggest posting this on the Bankruptcy and Living With it forum for advice. It may be the case that simply by contacting the debt collection agency that you reset the timer back to 0 giving them a further 6 years to chase you.Dogs have owners...my cat has slaves...0

I'd suggest ignoring pinkshoes and the letter as it's 6 years from last point of contact that you're liable.0
