You cant get both at the same time! IS is there for people who are not available to work, so you can EITHER get IS or WTC with a disibility premium not both together.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0

Can I get Income Support?
It is for people who:- are 16 to 59 years old
- have a low income
- work less than 16 hours a week
- are not in full-time study
- do not get Jobseeker's Allowance
- do not have savings above £16,000, and
- live in Great Britain
i work less than 16 hours per week when i start i will be doin 15 hours
What is Income Support?
This is extra money to help people on a low income.
It is for people who don't have to sign on as unemployed.
This could be if you are:- sick or disabled
- a lone parent responsible for a child under 12 years of age
- a carer, or
- registered blind.

In order to get WTC you have to be working over 30 hours if you have no children and are over 25. So yes you would probably be entitled to IS but not WTC0

I am going to be going into work of 16 hours at the most so i wondered can i claim both or is it one or the other??
other posts dont seem to have a straight answer on this!!
If you work less than 16 hours you will get income support but no working tax credits, bear in mind also for every pound you earn (wages) they will deduct that from your Income support excluding the first £20 I think.*SIGH*0 -

How many hours do you have to work each week?
To get Working Tax Credit, you must normally be over the age of 25 and work at least 30 hours a week. But you only need to work 16 hours or more a week if you or your partner:- are aged at least 16 and are responsible for a child or young person
- are aged at least 16 and you qualify for an extra payment of tax credits because you're disabled
- are over 50 and going back to work after being on benefit for at least 6 months
