Thought I would put a post out about this deal on here rather than grabbit as its more appropriate here.

I just took my Focus to Hendy Ford today for a service and MOT.
Total price was £130 for this offer which applies to any 3yr or older Ford.

For this I got.
An MOT (worth £60)
1 years free ford breakdown cover (approx value £40)
£20 of vouchers for M&S/Sainsburys/Debenhams (£20)
And a minor service (usual cost £150) at a main dealer.

Thought it was a pretty good deal. Not sure if its nationwide but if your due a service and MOT it could be worth a look.

Excellent value! Shame our local ones are so poor in comparison, standard of work is not particularly high in a couple of them either. It would be nice just to get the service done properly and come out feeling confident. Luckily I get my Focus serviced where I work - properly!! :D

  • Our local Ford dealer (Polar) are useless! They wanted £189 for a service on a Focus. However I can reccommend the Ford dealership in Oswestry!

Haven't used my local Polar dealer but I have heard so many bad stories of how inept they are

My car due for MOT at Xmas but may get it early as last year I was without it at Xmas due to MOT failure

The £99 service for Ford vehicles over 3 years old should be available at most, if not all, Ford dealers.

    http://www.ford.co.uk/OwnerServices/VehicleServiceandRepair/ServicingyourFord/VehicleServicing/FordValueService

Note that this service is not carried out in line with manufacturers recommendations and the invoice is normally annotated with this.
Parts used may not be genuine Ford parts.

My understanding is this deal currently comes with breakdown cover (for 1 year or until next service is due, whichever is sooner)

Most Ford dealers will also do a deal on an MOT if combined with this service.

Edit: don't forget your nectar points too!

How can they not use genuine Ford parts??? That is beyond belief, not saying that OE/pattern parts aren't any good, but Ford service parts are hardly expensive!!

I'd be very worried that my car wasn't getting serviced properly! Or that they are just doing an oil and filter for that and would then call you later and say.... oh it needs this, or it needs that.... and would you like us to take the wheels off and check your brakes properly... beggars belief..

The service is designed to compete head on with independents who offer similar deals.

Yes, genuine Ford parts are cheap in comparison to genuine OEM parts from other companies, but none of the OEMs can compete with the cheap stuff some aftermarket/pattern suppliers offer.

Independents rarely use genuine OEM parts.

Non-OEM parts are also available over the Ford parts counter ... if requested.

If you read the link, you'll see it's the price for a service, not just & oil & filter change.
The Ford Value Service includes checks on:
    • Handbrake
    • Clutch
    • Windscreen
    • Washers, wipers
    • Exterior lights and fascia illumination
    • Instrument gauges, warning lights and horn
    • Heating system, blower motor
    • Air conditioning
    • Seat belts
    • Bonnet catch
    • Wiring, pipes, hoses, oil and fuel pipes
    • Engine, vacuum pump and cooling system
    • Coolant expansion tank, windscreen washer, power steering and brake fluid reservoirs
    • Coolant
    • Auxiliary Drive Belts
    • Battery
    • Automatic transmission
    • Steering, suspension linkages, ball joints, driveshafts, gaiters
    • Front and rear wheel bearings
    • Engine and transmission
    • Exhaust
    • Underbody
    • Braking system
    • Tyres including spare wheel
    • Wheel nuts
    • Air Filter
    • Oil & oil filter

If someone just wants an oil & filter change, they should ask for a quote for just an oil & filter change.

These 'great' deals will all stop when the BER runs out next year - so make the most of it!

Eh? Do you really think every independent vehicle mechanic/ garage will cease trading next year?
    :confused::confused::confused:

As already pointed out, this deal already only relates to Ford vehicles over 3 years old (so out of warranty)

No, I don't but it will hit them a bit. I'm thinking more of the car owners pockets when they find that their independent garage can no longer download information and repair their car at a good price...

What sort of information are you thinking any competent mechanic needs downloading in order to complete the service as specified?
