DLA and AA

Options
Has anyone seen the news about the new green paper on the governments new plans to do away with the DLA and AA to finance their new care in the community plan.

The cut of date is 13th November and I for one am very anxious about the effect this will have on so many people including myself.

I have signed the petition against this going through. So if anyone has seen it and they want to stop it best to sign the petition.

I havent seen it but to be honest i wouldnt worry too much about it.
Very often these changes are made to new applicants and i think this will be the case.

Do you remember Incapacity Benefit, then they brought in ESA, well the people who were on IB before ESA was brought in stayed on IB. It has happend countless times in the past. So like i say dont worry about it.

I'm sure there will be others along to offer reassurances.
    Best wishes

Sorry but thats totally incorrect about ESA,all current I/B claimants will be moved across to esa in the next 3 years starting anytime now.
As far as sickness and disabilty benefits are concerned no one can take anything for certain and i for one would offer no reassurances to anyone

I'd also like to see a link as this is not the information we have been given. We were informed some assessed people will move over but not everyone, that IB will still exisit for some long time, assessed disabled claimants as is with SDA.
  • It has always been the plan to move I/B claimants over to ESA,the process will take a number of years perhaps 3 or 4,the info is out there for anyone who needs to confirm this. The move to ESA is a major shift in sickness benefit not some tinkering at the edges that has happened in the past. There will however probably be some transitional relief that will mean people dont lose out financially, but the change and all it entails will take place, including the move to WCA not PCA.
  • Just checked elsewhere and the move from ib to esa for existing claimants is now thought to start in 2011
