                                  in Credit cards

Hi there, I'm new to all this so accept my apologies if I've posted on the wrong 'thread' thingy.
My partner and I booked two flight tickets to Rio in December. However, my partners father has been recently diagnosed with bowel cancer so we have chosen not to go on our 3 wk holiday to south america at xmas.
We booked the flights on our credit card. Is there anyway we can get any money back at all?
Please help
Kind regards
Gemma

Unfortunately not, unless your travel insurance specifically covers for relatives.0

that's what travel insurance is for ...0

You could try contacting the airline to see if they will re schedule the flights for you at another time although if the price has risen you will be liable for the difference.0

??? but fathers/in law are not third parties they are close relatives, and serious illness of close relatives is normally a sufficient reason to cancel and make a successful claim.
Two possible snags - OP chose to cancel rather than being forced to, and pre-existing conditions may come into it.
And OP may not have had insurance in the first place.0
