Replacement Boiler Quote

  • More quotes, and better ones this time I think.

The below prices are all from the same persion for different boilers. It is for the boiler, the labour (including moving under the stairs and bricking up window), flushing the system and a room thermostat:

    Ferroli optimax 31he £950
    Worcester 30cdi £1500
    Worcester 30si £1410
    Worcester 28i Junior £1350
    Vaillant ecotecpro 28 £1270

I almost think these are too cheap, what do you think? They have good feedback on MyBuilder though.

Also, my OH's uncle fits boilers (but cant do ours) and says to make sure that the boiler has a Corgi number on the back, otherwise it may have been bought for cheap off the internet from abroad. Is this a common problem? And can you ask your fitter this without offending him?

    Thanks

    Tim
  • A boiler wouldn't have a corgi number on, it would have a gas council number on though. Quotes seem reasonable. I would tend to favour the worcester because the design has changed very little over the past 5 years which tells you they've kinda got it right. Don't get a junior though it only has heat control for the ch not the domestic hot water. For a little more you could get the si which is basically the same boiler but has hot water heat control, why overheat heat water only to cool it down with cold? False economy. Again with nuckle the CDI is a little more superior but you will pay a little more. You won't get it back in fuel savings but you should get it back in reliability.

Sorry for jumping on the post but I am getting a new cenral heating system installed. I'm going to buy all the radiators and boiler my self then get a guy I know to fit.
Can anyone recommend the best/most reasonable price wise place to buy and which boiler/radiators to go for. I would like a combi boiler, is this the best to go for?
Are "The Plumbcentre" ones any good?
    Thanks
The flat has 2 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, livingroom. One problem is, it's a ground floor and there are concrete floors.

Can i just say that central heating is one of those nightmare areas, just like double glazing.

The problem is that there are too many get rich quick merchants on the GSR express.

Also, joe public always wants cheap.

These days, the bare minimum for anyone doing a boiler change to a new high tech system or combi boiler would be a good system cleansing plus Magnatech. also check out the off the shelf costs of such boilers..they arent cheap. Do you want a sophisticated piece of kit to be butchered in ? No...would you take your prized Beeemer to a dodgy geezer under a railway arch just becuase hes cheap? no..so why do people expect to get a good quality job by paying cheap rates ?

    When dealing with heating,the only things that matter are;
    quality training
    experience
    registration

in that order. GSR registration is not a quality benchmark or guarantee. Its simply a licence to practice and its got easier to get one over the years..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
