Hi,
Thanks to everyone for all your help recently when working out SOA and various things to do with that. It's been invaluable and I really don't know what I'd have done othrewise. Thank goodness for this site. My debt definitely wouldn't have gone down so this site has already saved me £1000s! :j

Things will be changing in my circumstances now and I feel really positive that the changes are positive and will be handled no matter what without going into further debt-just!

I have an interview next week for a part time teaching job up north to where we are relocating to. OH has been relocated with work and through that we get a huge package, really too good to pass up. We are from the north and it was always our intention to move back up there to be nearer family and so the kids can see them all more often. We get all expenses covered, interest free loan as a deposit for a house & all solicitors fees etc paid. There was no other way we'd have been able to buy. We've got somewhere now, just waiting for the survey.

The school is nearby, so only a 10min commute rather than the 55 min commute now (live here as get extremely cheap childcare). However childcare will go up once we move up north so if I get this part time job, i'll stay at part time, maybe doing 2 days a month supply. We've number crunched and if OH does no overtime and I do no supply, we'll be £200 over for our outgoings (this includes christmas savings, food etc so can cut back more if needed for a paticular month) but this is very unlikely. Also, student loan will finsh after march so that's £124 less a month to pay out. We will only have to pay for 2 days childcare for one child if we do it this way which saves £600. If I was working full time I'd come out with an extra £100 only, so for this year, until dd starts school, it makes sense for me to work pt. I will not stay pt however and will be job hunting again this time next year!!

We have a few lumpsums coming (OH - £450, me- £1500) and what I was wondering is if we should pay this off debt or put in savings as emergency cash flow?

My OH has been a rock, just a complete change. He's willing to sell his PSP, get rid of mobiles etc. I don't know what's happened to him! From 2 motnhs ago where, if I'm honest, I wanted to leave him bcause he was being such a pig, to now where he listens to all the things I talk about regarding money and understands the financial situation (even though he does say if it all gets too hard we'll have to get a secured loan  ). It was his idea to go p/t as well.:T So for those of you with impossible OHs - they can change!!

Anyway, just thought I'd update. Will be paying lots off debts this month hopefully, so will have to redo my sig...aim now is to be below £30,000 by beginning of 2007 -eeek!!

ps just reread this and hope it dooesn't come across as all nahnah, it'll be hard and I'llneed the board more than ever to keep me ont he straight and narrow, especially when it gets nearer christmas!!

    Go Sea!!!

Personally, Id pay 1500 off the debt and keep the 450 as a nest egg. Although the survey will tell you whether any major works are needed on the house ( wiring being the important one, decor not )

If you dont need to then save the 450.

Best of luck with the interview!!!!

oh my! what a wonderful update.

I would keep the money until the survey comes in. if there aren't any major works to be done on the house, then i would bung all of it on debt repayment. don't you think it would be great to see that debt sum go right down?

I'm really pleased for you and the progress that you made with your OH. it's just brilliant how it's all looking up for you!

    well done:T

    Thanks :)

Just had some good news today - we're having a naming ceremony for our son (like a christaning, just not religious) and I was getting into a stress about how much it would cost. Today, two fo his supporting adults (godparents) offered us the use of their house and garden :j which means I'll just have to pay for the food - which my mum has offered to put money towards anyway! :)

Feel a bit funny about it - and I really hope they don't think we asked them for this reason! (we asked them a while ago now). Very kind of them though.

    Things are definitely looking up!

    Got the job!! :)

    So pleased :)

However, costs seem to be spiraling for childcare and spending is going out of control for me.

Will be back later to sort my figures out again....

    *sigh*

Why can't I stick to something?

    Feeling rather down.
