I can't do it. The nearest I can get is to hide the text (Format/Font/Hidden) but this keeps the column visible.
Reducing the font to 1pt and colouring it white is optional.
Alternatively, use the Insert Microsoft Excel Worksheet button to create your table and use Excel to hide the column (reduce to zero width).
Good question though.
