Pram damaged whilst in the care of daughters nursery

not the perfect place to put it probably, any suggestions for a better topic would be welcome.
DD was at nursery yesterday, there is a pram park, all mums are meant to fold their pram up and put their childs name label on it, when I got there not one person had folded their pram, I left mine up as if I'd put it down it would have been more of a tripping hazard iyswim. I informed the manager and told her I hadn't been able to fold mine, she also knows that I had an op last week so said they'd go sort them out at some point.
Dp picked us up from the nursery last night and when I got home, I realised the back rest part of the pram has been snapped horizontally in half, I think it must be cardboard, it looks like someone has pressed really hard on it.
I called the nursery, and the practice manager said she'd actually put my pram to one side when sorting them out as she didn't want me to struggle, but when I did get it out before I went in for DD it had been put right to the back, not folded, but definately moved behind the fence that they have to serve the cut off from the rest of the cloakroom, so she said she'd look into it.
I'm annoyed that another Mum(it seems) would do that to someones pram whether accidently or deliberatly, surely they would have realised and at least mentioned it. If I'd have been getting on the bus with DD and put her in in a rush and not noticed, it could have been dangerous. Does anyone know if it is the nursery or me that is liable for my own pram, does anyone know if these kind of things can be repaired? Its a Hauck Shopper if it makes any difference. Its a college nursery that has turned public this year, and funnily enough she had me sign a public contract from my student contract just before I left last night(cynical)
Any advice would be very gratefully received.

If you voluntarily chose to leave your property there unsupervised, and it wasn't broken by a member of the nursery staff, I don't think you can really hold the nursery to account for the damage. Bit like leaving your bike outside Tesco and then asking the supermarket to cough up when a car reverses into it.0

Did they have any signs up to say that they are not responsible0
-
Have you considered contacting the supplier/manufacturer of the pram, is it poor quality?:hello:0
-
yeah I thought that may be the case, not sure about any signs.
Gutted because I am paying so much for her to go there out of my benefits whilst studying at the college, and really can't afford a new pram.0 -

That'll have to be my next course of action, but I've had it for around a year and had no problems with it so far, so pretty sure it was done by someone and not the prams fault, on closer inspection it is hard board, not cardboard, so may be able to get the same size and try and sew it in somehow or see if the manufacturer has the part that I can buy.0 -
Thought that I saw something that because you left it there whilst paying for a service as sucj they have to look after any items you leave with a duty and care and are liable even if there are signs saying no responsibility???? Dont quote me on it but would look further0

Whether you pay £40 a day or £200 a day, you left the pram there and another mother broke it..
How do you conclude that it may be the nursery that is liable when it so obviously isn't.0 -
This incident is nothing to do with the nursery.

Where did I conclude that the nursery are liable?
What I meant by saying that I pay a lot was that I really can't afford a new pram, especially because it costs me so much in fees as they decided to go public rather than keep it for students and staff of the college.0 -
A lot of this will depend on whether you entrusted it to them (like a coat taken in a cloakroom) or if it was like a car park - leave it there at your own risk.
If it was the former, then they have a duty to take reasonable care of it. If they have not done, then they are liable for the damage.0 -

Sorry OP but you didn't fold the buggy up like you were supposed to.
how come you didn't notice at the time that it was broken if the buggy wasn't folded down when you picked your child up? surely you would see then that there was something wrong
I don't hold out much hope for you getting someone else to cough up for a new one, perhaps you can mend it or get a second hand one from gumtree or ebay0
