Exchange big amount of euros to pounds - cheapest way inside UK

Hello,
Do not know if this is the exact place to ask but I could not find a better one. I am going to UK tomorrow and I could not find nobody that could exchange the money from euros to pounds and a bank transfer would take more than the time I need.
In UK I have account in Halifax, Barclays and HSBC. I need to get £7400 by the weekend to pay a boat I will pick up in UK. I am taking with me cash and I would like to know the cheapest way I can exchange the euros I have for pounds without loose too much money.
Regards,
Filipe

You need to declare this to HMRC to avoid penalties. You may need to declare in Portugal:

It can't be done without losing a lot of money - nearer 10% than 5%.
If you can find anywhere that will look at that sort of amount. They will certainly ask money laundering questions.
A bank transfer is a far far better idea. I can't believe it can't be done in time. Any fee will be made up for many times on the exchange rate0 -

No you don't.
If you read the link you posted.
Sums over 10000 Euros need to be declared when going to or arriving from countries outside of the EU.
Neither of those conditions apply in this case0 -
