I have only had an acount with next for 6/7 months, and they have done this to me every month. My limit has decreased every single month to now being zero. I called them to ask why and was also told we credit check you every month, my credit is clear so am at a loss

Your credit may well be "clear" but you do know it's possible that Next change thier lending criteria on a monthly basis.0 -
Had my Next account for a few months and it has always shown my online status as have £0.00 credit limit, even though the paper statements always show £200 limit.0

They did it to me as well... £125 limit one month, spent and paid back £11, and the following month the limit was £0. Rang to enquire, and they put it to £75. Next day, back to £0.
I don't need that kind of hassle so I closed the account.

Next time a company hides behind the Data Protection Act inform them that you will be reporting them to the Information Commissioner for mis-use of the act.
They will either then apologise and give you a plausible reason i.e. we calculate your credit risk monthly on data taken from a variety of sources, or you can just report them.
Very true - the DPA exists to protect the information person (ie. in this case you) from outside knowledge of their data. Once they have security cleared you , ie..they know it is you they are talking to - which most do automatically before you can speak to a human nowadays, the actual DPA does not restrict them telling you anything about "you".The proof that some people really are opinionated and ignorant
