Counterfeit goods?

Hi - I'm new to the forum & to ebay.
One of my first purchases, paid for by cheque, was a DVD which, on receipt, was obvioulsy fake. It was a good copy with colour packaging & lables etc. but obv. a fake.
I contacted the seller who refused a refund & would only say that the DVD was great quality & no one else had ever complained. So I emailed again saying I had agreed to purchase an original & wanted my money back. again I was told that I got what I ordered & the DVD was, to sellers knowledge, imported not fake.
So I left negative feedback saying that item was fake & seller wouldnt refund to which I not only got negative feedback, saying I had never contacted seller asking for refund & was a bad ebayer, but was sent a number of abusive emails.
When I raised all this to ebay they said there was nothing they could do about it.... Any advice?
I have accepted I was ripped off but why should others suffer & why should this "person" be able to continue to trade in these illegal goods - proven to support drug & terror groups/

If you used paypal then you can do a chargeback saying that the item was significantly not as described. You could also report the seller to trading standards, and give them his address.0

Before I had Paypal but will def try Trading Stds.
Thanks0 -
Do you have the item number of the auction? It may still be visible. If so, you can save it to your PC.Can I help?0

Let's not overdramatise matters - there are lots of makers and distributors of counterfeit items, and not all have proven links to other criminal activities.erp_w wrote:

Contacting trading standards is a good idea. I would also reply to the feedback the seller left, and put your side of the story across. You may also try looking for the seller's other auctions and reporting any suspected fake items (and any other listing violations) while they're still active. You could also contact FACT (Federation Against Copyright Theft) with your concerns

LOL @ proven drug and terror funding.
Like Mild Peril says - contact FACT about it and they will really !!!! him up! :rotfl:0 -
Links are well documented just google it - something like 3 times the return per kilo compared to hash & increasingly part of money laundering route for all sorts.0

Oh and if its on google it must be true then!
i think its a bit naive to say copied dvds is proven to support drugs / terror groups - yes it might happen to some extent, but for example, just because your local drug dealer drives a BMW doesn't mean we can conclude 'BMW's - proven to be driven by drug dealers' and yes i'm sure you can google that one too.0 -
:rotfl: I don't know if there are any statistics available on that one!
There are proven links between, for example, drug abuse and burglary, but that's not to say that all burglars are junkies or that all junkies are burglars.0 -
most of the dvds which are copies on ebay are ones which are not released yet,i have seen ones not yet shown on tv in uk0
