PROLIANT, the subject is "Un-recorded Credit Search Quotation Lender List" but quotation searches and unrecorded enquiries are two different things. You gave the correct description of what an unrecorded enquiry is but quotes would normally use a quotation search, not an unrecorded enquiry search.

What are you trying to have this discuss, companies that use quotation searches before you have to make a full application? Or companies that make use of unrecorded enquiries for various purposes? Two completely different subjects, both potentially interesting.

When it comes to Zopa it's perhaps of interest that they never did convert my quotation search at Equifax to an application search. For me they report the ongoing payment activity to Experian, not Equifax. I don't know if this is normal for them or not.

I have a quote from Nationwide, they have shown monthly installments ect, have they already done an unrecorded enquiry? Or is this just an indication for anyone in my circumstances?
It can be either. It's only possible for it to be a quotation search or an unrecorded enquiry search (which won't be use for quotations, it's not what it's for) if you provided name and address. The exact wording of what they sent you might give a clue.

Did you fill in all of your personal details, D.O.B, Address etc?
Yeah, Salary, Time at address ect. I have had an equifax alert so assume they have carried out the unrecorded enquiry

  • All I want to know is can/will they still decline after showing me a rate? I know they do say they will carry out another credit check

Yes, a company can decline after doing a quotation search. Zopa does so some 80-90+% of the time, depending in part on market, after declining half or so before they even get a quotation. Zopa also leaves the search at quotation only, if you're declined, not full application.
