Shepherds Pie with Quorn help please

Options
I'd like to make a shepherds pie with my quorn mince, however I'm not sure how to make it up?

Shall I fry it with some onions then add gravy to make it look like mince

I have searched but couldn't find anything. Thanks for any help.

    Hi JennyW,
I make a 'pretend mince' and potatoes dish using quorn regularly...if I remember right I just fry the onions, add quorn ( potatoes & carrots - or add them later if you like them harder), veg stock then simmer for 20 mins. Once done I add a couple of spoons of onion gravy to thicken.
You do need to watch the amount of water, I scimp then add more if required.

I do the same as above but add a can of chopped tomatoes and some grated carrot to the quorn.

Many thanks. Vegetable stock - that's a good idea. I will give it a go tonight.

I do more or less the same as above, fry onions, add stock and mince (plus any additions you want)- I often add baked beans - then thicken the gravy with Bisto. One good thing about Quorn is that it doesn't shrink like mince so you get more of the mixture so although it may be more expensive than mince to buy, it can go further so is a good OS meal.

Hi Lesley_rod. Are you saying you make up a mince, potatoe, carrot dish all mixed up together instead of shepherds pie? Sounds nice.........I have some butternut squash which I could too

What's the difference? I call mine shepherds pie but I thought that they were both the same.

Shepherds pie cos the mash can be decorated by a fork to represent the fields and Cottage pie to represent the thatch.

Isn't it the other way around? I thought shepherd's pie is made with lamb because it's the shepherd who looks after the sheep
