Empire Stores and a busted PS3

Right, having gone down the SoGA route I've already gone through the process of sending a technicians report along with the SoGA letter to Empire Stores allowing them to reply within 14 days, which they did.
My problem is their responding letter just refers me back to Sony. Are they just giving me the run around?
Do I phone Empire Stores or do I continue correspondence with letters? What do I say or write?

Hope somebody can help! Thanks!

Sony repair all their PS3 consoles, so it's not surprising they have referred you to them (as their repair agent). But Sony are doing this, techincally, on behalf of Empire, so if you're met with any resistance, then Empire must sort this for you.
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

  • I had a similar problem with Amazon. You are on rock solid ground under the SoGA, an item has to last a reasonable amount of time bearing in mind price and usage; therefore I would suggest a £250 item should last more 24 months under normal use. Amazon paid me £60 towards a repair with Sony (£99). If the retailer still fobs you off threaten them with the small calims court. Apparently you can do that process on-line and it will cost 10% of the claim amount; which will include costs incurred by you i.e engineers report etc. I subcribe to Which? Legal Service (£9.75) per quarter; they have lawyers on-tap and give great advice.

Last time I did it, it was a fixed amount of about 30 odd pounds??
