    Thanks for that toonfan.

Quick update i went down and spoke to the LEA again this morning.
The issue although the letter states that it is, is not the reason for the withdrawl of the offer of the place.

It is infact because there has been a huge increase into transfers from school A to school B and they are now putting all transfers on hold between the 2 schools so they can look into why this is happening.

From what the woman told me today, because they originally offered the place and i have it in writing, they cant then just take the place away especially as he was given the start date and school unifrom has been purchased. i have appealed against the desicion and hopefully should know by the beginning of next week what is happening.

  • Hi I am fighting our LEA at the moment, I acyually did a protest outside there offices on 16th april and got the Surrey Mirror to do a story on it. I have been threatened with prison if I dont return my kids to school etc, I said please take me to court as I want to expose what your mainstream LEA's are doing to kids who do not fit in and who have a hard time. I started a petition because as I was demonstrating people were asking me what I was going to do about it, so I want a public enquiry into the way schools and teachers treat these vunerable children, the education is also discriminating as it is taught one way, again easy for thoes who dont have any problems. I have gone down the home education route as I think I dont like the ethos of mainstream education and I dont want my kids brainwashed and conditioned by what they teach and allow to go on in schools.
You must take control, it is your right to get the best for your child and to stand up for them, the LEA dont like it if you do that is why you are getting nowhere now, and it will carry on untill you give up and do what they want, they wont accept that the school is not good enough for your son, so your going to be made out to be the difficult one. I want a public enquiry into how they are getting away with all this.

    Good luck

best of luck foreveryoung its not easy and dont i know it!

needless to say they never bothered to call me back at the beginning of the week like they said they would.
I recieved a letter from the attendance officer first thing this morning informing me that i had a meeting with him at 11.15am today - nothing like short notice eh?

anyway before calling the attendance officer i contacted admissions to find out what was going on and why they hadnt called. to be told that if i contacted the new school i could arrange a start date, which i did and he starts monday :T

i then contacted the attendance officer as it seemed pointless him coming out who then informed me he had known since yesterday that my son was starting the new school but nobody had bothered to let me know about it until i contacted them

anyway on the upside he is starting monday and we are both looking forward to it :T lets just hope they dont try and take the place away from him again ;)

Glad you have the result you want.

Just make sure you take him in on Monday come what may. There was a legal precedent set a few years back where someone had used a false address to gain admission to a school. The court ruled that provided the child had actually started the school the place couldn't be withdrawn; if the falsifiaction had been discovered during the holidays the place could have been lost. Once a child has walked through the gates the needs of the child are considered paramount.

Hope things work out OK for you essexhoney. foreveryoung and anyone else having problems, I read a letter in our local paper the other day from someone saying that Community Legal Services Direct can help with school disputes. Also if there are special needs involved then IPSEA are very helpful and supportive!
