Just noticed this article online, it will be interesting to see the full range of products they start stocking:

If this leads to the loss of M&S own brands (which it almost certainly will) I think this is a shame as it will mean yet more homogenisation on the High St.0

I would tend to disagree with the two posters above. I saw the M&S man on BBC Breakfast this morning and he was talking about a small number of specific brand goods that many people won't compromise on. The names he mentioned specifically were Bovril, HP sauce and Tabasco sauce among others I don't remember. He even spoke about how he buys Tabasco as the pretenders don't taste the same.
I think if M&S stock the "essential" brands such as those mentioned then more people might shop there, as they don't then have to visit Tesco for HP sauce etc. Also I think it might just include certain lines that M&S don't stock right now - I've never seen a Marmite-type own label there for example.
It's only a game

My local M&S Food has been part of the trial. It's great - i can buy the high quality M&S products, and also buy the branded goods I like at the same shop. They've been quite picky about what they sell (really, who bought M&S Cola?).
Good stuff M&S, it's made the shop a lot more convenient0 -
Aren't they more expensive than other supermarkets? I don't buy a lot of branded products but would they charge more for e.g Marmite than other places?
I rarely shop at M&S these days but I've only ever used it to buy a few treats. Who would go there to do a main weekly shop?0 -

The article says none of their on products will be dropped as a result of the change, so hopefully they stick to it.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -

If they're telling the truth, that's good. If...0 -

If your post had any facts in it I might agree but as there are no Christmas meats out in any store including M&S. I can only assume this is your way of backing up a preheld idea of who is good value and who is a rip off.0 -
they have a christmas meats order book you order through their book!:footie:0
