Am at home feeling rotten with a sore throat, and have no medicine. What can I have that will make me better?

Honey? You could do a honey and lemon hot drink, or put a spoonful in black tea. My nan used to swear by it.
(Either that or gargle with salt water, which is a lot less pleasant!)
Edit - forgot to say hope you feel better soon.
From the honey association website:
Honey is widely used as a complementary remedy for the relief of the symptoms of colds, coughs, sore throats and 'flu. For a sore throat, take it on its own or gargle with a mixture of two tablespoons of set honey, four tablespoons of cider vinegar and a pinch of salt.A traditional drink made from hot water, lemon juice and honey will help to soothe cold and flu symptoms. Adding a little eucalyptus oil or root ginger will help to ease congestion and, to help enhance sleep, try a drop of whiskey in the mixture.(The whisky'd help you sleep if nothing else.)All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
We're not supposed to give medical advice on the forum I'm afraid. See here.
Try googling- I hope you feel better soon.0 -
I understand that we're not supposed to give medical advice, but do you have any 'pick me up' tips?0

you need to line the throat with something sugary. Black Strap Molasses is good. I just have a spoonful, but you can have it with water or milk. It has lots of vitamins and minerals which is an added benefitGrocery challenge year budget €3K Jan €190 Feb €225 Mar €313 Apr €202 May €224 June €329 July €518 Aug €231Sep €389 Oct €314 Nov €358 Dec €335 Total spent €3628

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this: Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. While discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments and how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable we ask you specifically not to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems (please see this rule on the Health Board). If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0
