Have any Virgin media customers had phantom numbers appear on their bill when they know no one was there at the time the call was placed?

No, but used to get customers telling me they did when I worked for them. However, none of them wanted to take the risk of an engineer coming out and face the charge if no fault was found.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

The didnt come out, they investigated and said if it was still found to have come from my number they would charge me £99 for doing it, they have since refunded me the call as it was a premium rate! but still insist it came from my line which is an impossibility! I think they are afraid to admit they got it wrong! I am going to Watchdog with this cos it happens all the time. that should wipe the smug look off the face of the horrible little man who called me back!0

Hit a nerve there mazza ?
This ia a difficult one to clarify under the law as it comes under a civil matter. but phone lines can be tapped into .
Id get a premium block put on your phone .. Then u can say how the hell did I call them
At the end of the day , u need to work with them , cooperate or they may just say , we are not supplying you and send you a final bill..

Same here,Once on a fault I found someone had croned in their phoneline drop onto another's connection but they thought they'd be clever by removing the address label on the (illigal) cable. They did'nt think about the one in the pit tho....:D
OT-I rarely levied a charge to the customer unless they were being obnoxious git's when I called! Once had some woman go off on me before I got into the house because she was missing Corrie! Her TV pic was so bad but turning on the video at the wall socket cured it!
I would've let it go but she blamed me for it!! and that got her a £50 bill!!!0 -

Years ago I did (sort of - see following), but then I also heard someone on my line listening to overseas premium adult services, happened my line was still connected to two other properties and someone had just moved in and phone the phone socket working so decided to use the phone, they could have answered and listened into my phone calls too.
Reading the VM support groups there does seem to be people from time to time finding phantom numbers on their bill. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
