The baliffs are comming!!!

I posted recently regarding a ticket " civil parking charge notice" that hubby managed to get from the grassed area outside the jurys inn in newcastle - we ignored it as advised by members on this site, but now have a letter stating that the balifs are comming ( well, roxburghe debt collectors anyway!) for a total of £140.00!!!
The letter asks me for the driver details, which i understand i do not have to provide but the alarming bit is that the bottom of the letter states "it is important to note that every person who enters into a contract with the company for the parking of a vehicle at the car park, wether by purchasinga ticket or not, does so on behalf of all other persons having any proprietry posession or other financial interest in the vehicle or its contents"
Does this mean they will come and tow my car away??? Do they have a legal right to do so?? Please help - i've got a newborn baby and really don't need the stress or hassle of this, but can't afford to pay the charges!!!
ALL HELP AND ADVICE GREATLY APPRECIATED, BUT MUST ADMIT I'M AT THE POINT OF PAYING AND GETTING INTO DEBT TO DO SO!!

No, they have no right. They are debt collectors, they are NOT bailiffs. Debt collectors are just private citizens and cannot enter your property, seize goods or blacken you credit records. Genuine bailiffs will only come on the scene in the very unlikely event that the case goes to court, you lose and you do not pay whatever the judge orders.
Just ignore those threatening and intimidating letters from them. They really should be charged with demanding money with menaces. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
So they won't just come and tow the car away and charge me extras for releasing it then??0

No, they have no right. As I said before, they are just private citizens just like you or I. We cannot just tow somebody's car away, and neither can they. Just relax. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

Seconded.
Carrie please don't pay it, you would not pay a Nigerian email scammer just because he pestered you more than once - so don't fall for these scam scare tactics either. The bailiffs are not coming.
That rubbish about contract is wrong and if in the very very unlikely event they decided to take a person to Court to try their luck, anyone on here could get a solid defence which would see them off.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Carrie,
I had a similar sort of letter a few months ago. I really started to worry. Everyone on here says ignore it but if our new to it its pretty scary. I kept ignoring and ignoring and the letters have now stopped.
Just thought I'd give you some reassurance that it seems like things are getting serious but that's just what they want you to think so you're scared into paying.
GazThis is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
Don't pay.
You'll probably get another [STRIKE]piece of toilet paper[/STRIKE] letter or two from Roxburghe, followed by another letter or two from a Michael Sobell at Graham White Solicitors. Then they'll stop and that will be the end of it.0 -
Just to echo, don't pay them anything. Letters from Roxburghe are common -search this forum for how often they're named. Ignore them and get on with things and they'll disappear.0
-
I have a box file full of letters from Roxburghe. They are just a bunch of chancers with no power to do anything. That stuff about entering into a contract is utter drivel, ignore it and DONT pay them.0

""it is important to note that every person who enters into a contract with the company for the parking of a vehicle at the car park, wether by purchasinga ticket or not, does so on behalf of all other persons having any proprietry posession or other financial interest in the vehicle or its contents""
This is, legally speaking, merely cat pee.

Doing a search for roxburghe debt collectors suggests they have a, treads carefully, reputation...for instance:
