Buying on ebay.com and shipping to a hotel in New York?

Hi everyone.

I'm off to New York for the first time on Friday.. very exciting!

I would like to get a couple of old pans (griswolds, no longer made so can only be purchased second hand and are fairly cheap to buy on ebay)

I was wondering if its possible to have things shipped to the hotel in advance? If I can get an ebay seller in the US to send to my hotel (New Yorker) then I can pick them up when I get there. Of course I don't have my room number until Friday and won't be taking my laptop so I would need to purchase now and just put my name and New Yorker hotel address.

Would the hotel mind doing this? I've tried to do a search before posting but I'm not getting anywhere? I can't believe no one else has asked this?

Thanks for any help

I have done this at hotels in Washington and LA. Some hotels charge for receiving packages for guests. I agree with isplumm, you need to ask the hotel in question. You also need to consider what you will do if the package gets delayed and does not reach you before you leave.
    Gone ... or have I?

Brilliant, thanks for that. I will email the hotel but I just wanted to get an idea of whether its a 'done thing'

Sorry I've never been to New York before so I am a bit of a newbie.

    Thanks again

Also emailed my hotel before arrival to inquire. They told me I should include Guest in the delivery address.

even if the hotel agree to this, you may find the seller wont ship to an unverified paypal address, you need to check with the seller of the item before you bid.

I've certainly bought prior to a trip to USA for delivery to the hotel and notified both the company and the hotel with no problems but I'd be very wary of doing this with an Ebay purchase.

Thanks everyone, its very much appreciated.

I was thinking of ebay because the pans are no longer made, I think the youngest ones are probably twenty years old. Some of these pans are great collectors items but the common ones are only about ten dollars and cook the finest steaks ever!

I imagine its possible to get them in antique shops but then again its likely to be the rare ones that command a high price and I simply want to use them for cooking.

I may just have to be satisfied with the one I have. I purchased it from ebay US. It cost $6 plus $35 to get it shipped over here!
