    fly out on the 10th september
    return on the 24th september

    tried warsaw, lisbon and manchester - all similar priced at around £1670


    any help appreciated
  • looked on the frequently flyer site, BA has seemed to plug the famous Portugal and Lisbon hole. From what I read, this way to get around the system was fixed in mid-December 2004. Wish I knew about it before this weeK! :-[

    Well if you don't want the hassle of flying the wrong way (ie flying east out of the UK when your destination is west) try booking flights out of Dublin or Shannon. Compared with prices for flights to the US in August, flights from Dublin are around £250 per person cheaper than from London or Bristol. Add on flights to Dublin which would be less than £50 return inc tax on Ryanair or Aer Lingus and you're £200 per person better off. Plus the transatlantic leg of the journey would be slightly shorter than if you were going direct from London.

    Having said that I don't think the airlines have released all their promotional fares for the summer yet as the prices still seem a bit too high. I'd say it's worth holding off for a month or 2 if you're looking to book flights to the US in July or August, as I think some cheaper fares will appear.
