hi, can someone help me?
I am wanting to buy a pc for my parents. but should I buy them a pc or a laptop?
all it is need for is internet access (ancestory.com) and very light usage for other things. They have a digital camera which I thought they could upload all their photos before deciedng which they would order. I know that they would then need a wireless conection for the laptop, but the computer would be on the 3rd floor and would need to have a wireless conection as the phone in point is on the ground floor.
Oh i don't know what to do for the best. i have to make all the desicions for them.
please be gentle I am very new at this

Since I got my laptop my pc's become redundant.
It's easy to transport, to take places if I wish and just as powerful.
Personally I'll never go back to a pc again. (And being wireless, I can take it into the garden and work there when I want to.)0 -
PCs are cheaper/ more performance for your money, much easier to upgrade/ repair, generally less problems but take up more room and arent portable
Laptops are considerably more expensive for their performance, limited options for upgrades and difficult to fix but can be easily transported around (if that is important to you) and can be packed away when not in use.
I have 2 laptops (one work and one personal) and a desktop but the desktop is almost never used and I wont be looking to replace it when it finally dies.
On the flip side my mother bought a budget laptop and very much regrets not getting a desktop as she uses none of the benefits of a laptop - it always lives in the back bedroom and never goes anywhere but she does lack the performance that she would have got if she had spent the same money on a desktop and she doesnt like the small screen/ keyboard. She too originally got it only for internet but has since got into photo editing (she is late 60s)All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
