    The 28 days is just a convention most retailers have to cover themselves. Some have 30, some have 14, some have less.

    As in this example, for a camera, the 'reasonable time' would be however long is needed to ascertain it works, i.e. to take a few pictures and check the results. Of course, not everyone does this right away, so the 28 days is assumed to be sufficient time for someone to test goods (though it's not rigid). After the buyer has been able to test these, under the law, they have 'accepted' the goods and no longer has a right to refund.

    Because it's so woolly, that's why most retailers offer a 14/28/30/60 day money-back guarantee.
