Of course they can, I would!
Like I said it's a formality-so if for some reason they had to get a bailiff to evict the occupant, they wouldn't be able to plead ignorance because the notice of intention to proceed has been 'served'.
Think of it like a couple getting divorced....they both agree but one of them has to serve the other with the papers...
Yes I agree its probably for that reason. I spoke to OR as well and told him I didn't sign the deed of acknowledgement and he confirmed that any shortfall will be included in my BR.
I must admit I was worrying what the neighbours would think and to add to that my Mum still lives on the same street and I was embarrassed for bringing the shame onto her. I've spoken to her about my guilt and to my surprise she was actually ok.0 -
Startingover hun, I doubt anyone would automatically know you've gone bankrupt, they'll be feeling sad for you that you lost your house due to the recession. Those feelings of yours will subside soon and you can rename from startingover to movingon

Thanks Miche, I have to admit things are so much better since going BR back in July. I was working holding down 2 jobs working 53 hours a week and no i can go home every night with money in my purse too :j
Its just the neighbours gossiping,I've lived on the street since I was 12 so know most of them really well.
I'll get over it I'm sure. I've been following your posts and have to admit you seem very positive after all you've been through with your house.0
