Voluntary repossession - notice put in window

Hi all
Well today my mortgage company and visited the house that I have abandoned ( i sent a letter last week surrendering the property as I refused to sign their letter) they have put a notice in the window saying that they will be take possession in 14 days.
The funny thing is that the notice was only sellotaped to the outside of my window! Now call me cynical but what would happen with all the bad weather were having the notice come of the window?
Does it actually have to be displayed for 14 days?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

They did the very same thing to my Dad's house years ago, our housekeeper promptly ripped it off the window to stop the neighbours reading and reporting to the rest of the street!
Made no difference in his case but maybe it's a different situation as they repossessed the house there and then-locks changed, windows nailed shut and cut the water and power off.
If it were me I would have it down like a shot, if it was so vital to display for any legal purpose they should make damn sure it's affixed adequately. There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0 -
If I remember correctly it may be the notice of proceedings to take possession etc etc.
I think they have an obligation to make the notice public, it serves a legal obligation as opposed to a practical one.
Having said that I coud be wrong, someone else will know I'm sure. There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0 -
You're right it is the notice of proceedings to take possession.
I can appreciate they have to make it public but surely anyone could pull it off?0 -
That's weird, we received notice that our house had been taken into possession last Tuesday, Dh was over there for the last time on the Saturday, no notices. I gues they've long gone. Bet my ex neighbours are revelling in my misfortune. I'll leave then to play their 'keeping up with the Jones' game while I relax in my nice new rental all calm and happy0

Of course they can, I would!
Like I said it's a formality-so if for some reason they had to get a bailiff to evict the occupant, they wouldn't be able to plead ignorance because the notice of intention to proceed has been 'served'.
Think of it like a couple getting divorced....they both agree but one of them has to serve the other with the papers...There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0 -

Now I know you didn't mean to come across so bitter Miche:DThere used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0 -
you know me doll.. all calm, peaceful and nice - most of the time hehe.
Bitter? lol I don't know you know. I feel like I've got the upper hand if you can believe that in a bankrupt!. I think it's because I've managed to stumble across what really is important in life. I know, I know I sound cheesy but it's true. I feel like I have sussed out life a bit and can plan and work for the future while they will be forever playing their best, newest, shiniest, biggest game for the rest of their lives0 -
Unless of course, the same thing happens happens to them too:rolleyes:There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0
