I wonder if anyone can help me here??
I have a Nvdia 6600gt which I then replace with a 6800le. Using some fancy drivers I managed to unlock it to a near 6800GT spec.
I was going to sell the 6600GT until I put it back to try it.
When windows loads the display is corrrupted. I basically many smaller versions of the windows logo on the screen and it is very dim
Could this be due to damage due to static or could be due to the drivers as they "unlock" pipelines in the 6800le that the 6600gt does not have??

I would try starting windows in safe mode, this shouldnt load the "fancy drivers".Hopefully the display should be ok and this should show you if the old card is ok.0

It will be the drivers.... I assume they are not OFFICIAL drivers. Although the damage could already be done considering the drivers would have increased both memory and GPU clock speeds as well0

The 6800gt does run at lower memory and GPU clocks if I remember right!!0

The driver is called rivatuner0

Rivatuner is just a tweak utilility isn't it? You would have to run this along side some drivers.
Rivatuner is a very powerful utility, you can change so much in there, many people tweak the GPU and find that games don't run very well afterwards.
I would try uninstalling Riva, uninstalling the drivers, I would try run this after driver uninstall.

Did you re-flash a new BIOS to the 6600? Or was it just soft-modded to a GT via drivers?0 -
Sorry, I only made a half-post then.
Then, when you are conifdent ALL the drivers for the 6600 are gone goto
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
and get the latest official driver for your operating system.0 -
I softmodded the 6800le to a near GT configuration.
I did not flash the bios of either card as I am scared I could permanently screw up the card if it goes wrong!!0
