Practical test - which car?

I was wondering what car I will be driving during my driving test. Would it be the car I'm learning in, or a different one provided by the DSA test centre?

You supply the car, not the DSA.

    Ok.

I assume the instructor won't the one who will be 'asessing' me during the test?

No, it'll be the examiner, but you'll usually take the test in the car you've been learning in. "You" ( which often means your instructor ) need to supply the car.

Your instructor will probably wait at the test centre whilst you're being tested, enjoying a cup of coffee :-)

I'm glad you asked that question; some numpties have even turned up at a test centre without a car before now :p

As Ebe Scrooge correctly pointed out, you are responsible for supplying a suitable car on the day. (Check the back of your appointment letter). Either you can provide your own (if you have one) or agree with your instructor to use his or her car. Remember that your instructor is not obliged to do this, and may refuse the use of the car on the day if you're not up to standard by then.

Don't confuse an instructor with an examiner. Your instructor is the one who's been giving you lessons. The examiner is an independent person you won't have met before who works for the government and checks your driving on the day. If you want, you can ask your instructor to sit in the back seat and accompany you while the examiner tests you.

    Thanks for the explaination.

I hope the instructor could let me use his car for the test when I'm up to standard. Or can he/she still refuse? :o

I would not imagine so , its genrally expected youll use the car as you will have a lesson immediatly before the test, just ask him/her and clear it up

Don't forget you'll probably pay normal lesson rates for your use of the car during the test.

I paid for the test itself + 2 hours lesson, and drove for over an hour before the test, so all the instructors time was paid for.

Unless that was just my tightwad instructor lol!!

That's entirely up to the instructor. Check their terms and conditions.

That's pretty much standard industry-wide. You'll already have paid for the test some time ago, so you just pay the instructor for 2 hours of his time and his car just like on any normal lesson.
