Electricit Meter

Hi All,

I would like to know how to get my Electric Meter Remove.

I call the company - and was told that I had to pay £50.00 too have the meter remove, I have a bad back, and where the meter is, is causing me problem to bend.I told them that I should not have to pay to take the meter out. And I am not working at present.

Can anyone tell me what to do next?

Tks

    hi

call them back and tell them you have probs reaching the meter and you have back problems, they should then move/remove for free.

    Cheers

If you are claiming a disabilty benefit for your back your supplier should be able to move the meter for you. You should also be put on their energy care register. As a very large proportion of people in the UK suffer back problems this would not automatically count.

Call back to the e.on, don't call the customer service number but call the complaints team isntead. Mention your disability and request to be placed on the priority service register (free of charge service provding extra consideration and support for vulnerable customers) and then request the meter move on the basis of health and safety.

As long as the move is no more than 12 inches on the board or as far as the current supply cabling allows (dependant on area) you should have the meter moved free!

If not raise a formal complaint and request a copy of their complaints procedure, this should give them notice that you mean business. Simply follow the process to the letter and i'm confident you'll get a resolution your happy with.

Since you receive a disability benefit then you can use this to get your meter moved. That's why you receive a higher rate than standard benefits. What else do you think you should spend it on? Trips to Waitrose? Who do you think should pay for it?

You are lucky it is only £50. Pay up.

just checked your other posts, you can afford flights to jamaica, other holidays as well as finance on a car but not 50 quid for a meter most people check only once a quarter or once a year?
well i cant just be a troll so here is my advice:
use a mirror to read the display, or ask a friend. you can request eon to visit to get an up to date accurate reading.

    Hi easynote,

Do you live on your own?

Unfortunately it's normal practive for E.ON to charge for non essential meter exchanges, the payment is to cover the cost of the work carried out by the meter engineers.

I'm afraid being on the priority service register does not automatically mean you are eligible for the change free of charge.

By all means advise E.ON of your circumstances and ask (if you're not already) to be placed on the priority service register.

Rather than using the complaints department straight away, call the Vulnerable Customer Team on 0800 056 3050, they will have more knowledge of the correct process and how it may change for your exact circumstances.

Any questions give me a shout easynote11.:)

You say "remove meter" do you mean you want the prepayment meter swapped for a credit meter or do you want the prepayment meter MOVED to make it eaiser to reach. That latter is free if its within a short distance as stated by others above. If you want a credit meter then they may well charge you espeically if they think you may then have difficulty paying quarterly bills.
