Sky+ not recording 'technical fault'

I hope someone can help me out with my Sky+ box.
All of a sudden it has now decided to stop recording certain channels (mainly Sci-fi, E4 and more4) on the planner. The message box states 'technical fault' but I'm lost as this never happens when the box is on and you're actually watching these channels.
The box is 4yrs old and never had any such problems like this before. I've done the 'remove card, unplug from mains, etc' twice now but nothing seems to work. The box has been owned since new with no adjustments to the inner workings.
Please help as I'm not too clued up on these things. Any advice greatly appreciated.

i had this problem and the last time an engineer was out he said that the round socketed wires that go into the box (sorry i don't know what they're called) weren't sitting properly.
I got the call out for free by threatening to cancel because sky+ wasn't working as advertisedLead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.
wins - peroni bottle opener, peroni bowl, peroni coastersx2 and a vodkat cocktail kit,
would love to win something 'proper'!!0 -
Sounds like one of the feeds on the box or LNB is faulty. The Sky records thru input 2 first so try swapping the feeds around.
Power down the box & unscrew the F Connector (the round socketed wires) from the back of the box & swap them around.
If this does'nt solve it you'll need an engineer out to check the LNB or replace the box.
If water comes out of the cables when you unscrew them, then theres the fault, but that's just one extreme.More likely what I posted first.Used to get these all the time when I worked for Sky as an engineer.0
