Old style bath panel

Hi folks,

Hope someone can inspire me :) I have decorated my bathroom and the last thing i have to do is put something where the normal bath panel would go. I am a bit strapped for cash so if someone could help with ideas about making something to do the job I would be so grateful :)

    Hi Rossy,

You should get more help with this from the regular DIY'ers on the In My Home board so I'll move your thread over there.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

I have made several in the past by cutting a panel of MDF, routing vertical lines in it about 5" apart to make it look like tongue and groove, then painting it (making sure you seal the edges of the MDF, then attaching a piece of skirting to the bottom. The result is very impressive and quality looking.

Depends what you've got on the floor but In the past I have used an offcut of the vinyl flooring wrapped round an old bit of chipboard - held in place with a few staples from a staple gun.

My current one, that I inherited with the house is just plain painted wood. Looks perfectly neat and tidy so I haven't changed it.

Hi Rossy, I was in BandQ last week and bought a pine bath panel from the sale of old stock for only £5, original price was nearer £60, worth a look maybe?;)
No-one ever reads this bit anyway......

    Why not just use T&G?
