I've got two cars, one insured as business class and the other as social/commuting.
I had insurance with Elephant for the business class one of at £325, for my 2nd car they wanted £350+ 3rd party! Thats the one I drive less.
After some going back and forth on the phone with them I got them down to £280 "fully comp" by getting them to apply my 7 years no claim bonus to my 2nd car.
Still not good enough I thought.
So I did the usual going through comparison sites. I was getting stupid quotes left right and center.
I decided to try admiral.co.uk, entering my normal details but also applying the 7 year no claim discount Elephant were giving me.
Lo and behold I get a quote of £250, fully comp?? What? This is the SAME company as elephant!
Still not good enough.
I added my girlfriend to my policy as per Martin's advice.
£210 fully comp.
Back on the phone I call elephant who inform me that Admiral is the same company, I get into a debate with them over why I should mess around having a policy with Admiral and one with Elephant.
They agree to give me the price at £210.
Wait wait wait.
We've just gone from £350 to £210 in about 30 mins.
I'm already loving it. I think to myself lets see how far we can push this, I ask them about the Legal Protection, they kindly inform me I have this, I then ask what it covers me for? HA! lovely, it covers me for any car I'm driving. Soooooooo I say to them "take it off", they say "not advisable" I say well I already have another car policy with that legal cover on it so by what you're saying I'm covered?
Phone goes silent for a bit, person comes back to me and say's that's fine sir "£185"
I almost fall off my seat. £185 fully comp, with both me and my girlfriend on it for a 1.8 primera.
Thank you thank you! :j:j
And remember all this was done working the same "company" off itself.

I did similar with tesco insurance this year. After shopping around for a better deal (£60 cheaper than they were offering) I phoned them and complained my renewal quote was far too high and was going to leave unless they reduced it. They matched the cheapest quote straight away.
Not good enough I said, considering all the time spent on the phone to them and the fact that it should have been a better renewal price anyway.
Ok they said, how about we send you a £50 tesco gift card as a bonus? Thank you very much I said!
Just goes to show that even if you find a better renewal quote then still contact your current insurer to see if they can better it.0 -

our renewal from Admiral has just come, £432 policy with £350 compulsory & voluntary excess, plus another £150 excess for fire/theft, protected no claims, courtesy car & legal.
after going thru a few comparison sites last night the best i could find was MoreThan, £400 policy with £400 comp & vol excess (lowest excess available), legal cover but no courtesy car.
just done one more comparison with the Meerkats & Admiral's sister company Elephant pop up with £342.50, same cover /excess as Admiral renewal.
guess i'll be on the phone later!0
