I assumed that the OP was not developing their site for a bluechip and whilst I would agree that the majority of them do use MS based application (gut reaction rather than known fact) on the whole net then PHP is more common.

I personally do like asp.net though I am not very good at it at all (yet) but then it is only a hobby and not something I want to do "professionally"

Seeing as you are a pro .net person.... how (using VB.Net in ASP.Net) would you retrieve the search criteria used by people who are visiting you from finding you on Google?

I agree that PHP probably is the better solution for the OP. I was just making the point that .Net is quite common too, especially in industry. Means if you want to move in that direction there should be plenty of opportunities.

Not sure to be honest. Tricky in the sense that google is a seperate website. You could try using the Request.UrlReferrer (as in HttpContext.Current.Request.UrlReferer, that's for C#) property which will return the url of where the user came from. You could then look at the querystring of searchwords that google produces when searching. That's not a water tight solution though, but is a possibility.

Aye, it is only for playing with an idea - have seen the price of a commercial solution for customised landing page content subject to refering url/ search engine search criteria and was sure that it would be simple to do (partically on a simple basis of targeting Google).

    Many thanks.
