    hi,

my oh has used them in the past. for every click a sum of money will accumulate in your account and once it reaches $100 (he a personal website with few pages) they will send a cheque or do a bank transfer.

my oh recovered whatever he shelled out for the hosting company and a wee bit more.

you might want to check this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AdSense

They can certainly pay well but a lot depends on what the content of your website is (and therefore what adds you get). If you have a very competitive market content - say insurance - you will get a fair amount per click through but if you have something obscure say cornish frog dancing then your ads will get very little per click (not much demand for advertising on frog dancing websites).

The rest depends on your ability to place the ads well and amount of traffic you generate.

I run a small hobby site on my partners family history and the site is hosted on a budget webhost (but not a freebie). Using adsense it more or less pays for the website. On another site (advice on insurance which I have now taken down) there was a lot more earnings.

  • Since I put adsense on my site I've had over 35000 page impressions (according to them) and I'm now at the princely sum of $99.34 - cheque should be on the way soon but I'm not gonna be retiring.

Adsense can be brill if you have the right kind of site and you've done it all properly. E.g. games sites make next to nothing, but something really specific like "keeping a pond" (just an example), could be brill as they are not too many other sites like it.

You need to have pretty good traffic - although saying that - if you pick a niche thats paying well you don't need too much - the most I've had per click at the mo has been $2.00, but I thought that was great.

The other thing is blending your ads and placing them well. I read one of the webmaster forums on the internet, http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27, this is great, lots of info from people that have been using adsense for years as well as newbies asking questions. Its a free forum to join, but think about what you ask before you ask it, as sometime the answers can be rather abrupt, so please don't go and ask for the highest paying keywords, or how to get loads of traffic to your site, as they answers you get really won't be nice.

But other than that, its an excellent source of info, I went from making $0.19 once every 5 days to $2.50 a day in only 4 weeks using the tips I picked up here. Not on my way to making millions yet - but it's food for thought.

However here's a link to the same forum - one guy called Shoemoney has done very well - he also shares lots of good info throughout the forum, http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=949668&postcount=8.

I hope the information is useful. You can find everything you need at this forum - please don't spend any money on adsense ebooks!!
