New arial

How much should I pay to have a new arial fitted on my roof? Should we get a digital arial?

We have an ok picture on our TVs but a much better picture using Sky (which we only have connected to our living room) - we'd like to get a similarly good picture in the bedrooms. Have never been able to get a Channel 5.

Get a couple of quotes from professional aerial fitters. We had ours replaced a couple of years ago, it came to £100 all in, that included supplying the aerial and he also replaced the coax with better quality stuff. We lived in a very poor signal area, the difference was amazing.

There's no such thing as a "digital" aerial, you just need a reasonably high quality one. You may also benefit from a signal booster, especially if you intend running more than one TV from the aerial - a decent fitter should be able to advise you, he'll have the equipment to measure the signal strength and what-not, and hopefully he'll know what the signal is like in general in your particular area.
  • Just renewed mine, £80 for the main aerial and another £50 I think for a lead into the bedroom.
