It's normally 3 days from payment issued. Our ESA gets issued on a Friday but reaches bank on Wednesday.
Quite why the DWP cant use a bank that supports faster payments I don't know0 -

I'm with natwest and had about 3 weeks ago a backdated amount, was told in the morning it would be in by 5 pm, it was a few hours after the call it was in...Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0

I wish it was that simple for me mate, thanks for replying.... Its just got to the stage where its a bit of a joke 10 weeks ago i won my tribunal and its just this morning its supposed of to have been paid into my account.... ive got 3 different versions of the length of time it ll take to clear,1 from the natwest saying 2 days,2 from incapacity 1 said in the next few days and the other monday unless im lucky and my bank does it satuary!!!!
So im none the wiser :mad:0 -
Some benefits take 3 working days to clear and others take 5 working days to clear. Incap (not ESA, and not Income Support based on incapacity but specifically Incapity benefit) used to be 5 working days, though this may have changed.0

The JCP tell me they can now do an automatic BACs payment which is like the Faster Payment scheme I support. However I assume they'll only agree to this in an emergencyI'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0

I understand that because giros are being phased out over the next 2 years, as suelees1 says, DWP is starting to use 'internet banking' for urgent payments. This faster payment, normally the same day, would no doubt, be used mostly in the future for Social Fund crisis loans and only urgent benefit payments.
What people need to remember is, that so far as the banks as concerned, DWP is just another user of the banking system. I don't think that DWP payments in the banking system would get any priority.0 -
