Hi
I have a laptop 2.6 GHz and it is extremely slow. It litrally takes ages to run any programme and the internet just drops out continuously. The internet connection is fine as it works through another computer so it is definitely related to the laptop.
I have checked the memory and there is 30GB free
I have run spy bot
I have run adware
Removed any potentially problematic programmes
But it still won't work. Can anyone suggest anything?

Have a look in Task Manager and see which processes are hogging the cpu time and memory. Post back.

How much RAM do you have, if you have less than 512 consider buying some more from crucial.
You haven't mentioned whether it has upto date anti virus software on, or whether it is patched with https://www.windowsupdate.com..
Try this:

When you say the internet drops out, do you mean wireless? If so, try changing channels, upgrade the firmware on the router.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

The internet connection drops out when wireless, but even through the connection cable, it won't function.
I have got 2 other computers that function fine wirelessly or through a cable0 -
Your S-L-O-W laptop problem is most likely caused by you wireless connection problems, WIFI does tend to hog the CPU when in difficulty..
What OS are you running? To alcohol! The cause of... and solution to... all of life's problems!:beer:0 -
Woops, just read more of your post
My advice is to upgrade to SP2 which has better WIFI support and use the inbuilt WIFI connection manager in SP2To alcohol! The cause of... and solution to... all of life's problems!:beer:0 -
